digiscope 1
With digiscoping I can photograph birds without disturbing them, so I can get photos of relaxed & neato behavior. I can also get photos that document rare birds (so far: two birds never seen before in Yakima County.)

Cord plugged into right side of camera supplies 4.5v shutter trigger signal.
Fuscia elastic hair tie secures camera in down position, for when I'm carrying it.
D-ring camera mount screw is from Manfrotto tripod head quick release plate.
Gray plastic body is modified PVC conduit LB box.
Silver cylinder with black dot & hot melt glue goobers is modified key fob light. It contains three 1.5v button cells, providing the trigger voltage for the camera shutter.
Black thing on left is Yongnuo RF-603C wireless remote control / flash trigger. It's configured as a reciever. It uses two AAA batteries. When it receives the signal from my Yongnuo RF-603C transmitter (not pictured here), it switches the 4.5 v supply, providing +4.5v to one pin of the USB cable, and -4.5v to another pin. I have CHDK loaded on the camera's SD memory card. With CHDK I enable remote shutter triggered through the camera's USB port.

Black device at middle of scope is a red dot finder that I removed from a telescope. I mounted it to a piece of PVC pipe, so it snaps on to the scope. It can be a great aid to aiming the scope in difficult conditions, such as on a large body of water with wind disturbed surface, or dense foliage at a short distance, as when scoping warblers along a trail -- silly me.
