The peach orange color of its breast was gorgeous in the afternoon light. I think this is the first one in seen in Washington state this year, though I know other curlews might have been seen and not noted -- since not all birders are listers (as not all listers are birders).

I'm not listing on eBird in Yakima County, since there are too many ethical violations by listers here. For my efforts to up the bar, I've gotten much positive feedback, from very casual birders and from eminent ornithologists -- all kind folks. From the problem listers here I've gotten snipes & threats. Oh well. I'm happier out of the eBird listing race, and seeing more birds than ever.
